Save the Children Jordan inaugurated “Ray of Hope” Nursery in Rusaifa in the Zarqa governorate, in partnership with the German Ministry of Development and Economic Cooperation(BMZ) and “Ray of Hope” Organization, under the patronage of Dr. Mohammad Meqdadi, Secretary General of the National Council for Family Affairs. The opening of the nursery is part of the "Step" project which comes as one of the projects aimed at mitigating the impact of the Syrian crisis on the host communities in Jordan.

The "Step" project aims at linking job seekers in Zarqa and Mafraq governorates to job opportunities that have a positive impact on their families, as well as the establishment of early childhood centers (nurseries) to promote the participation of women in the labour market.

"The opening of the nursery aims to provide a safe place for children to learn through play and develop their skills," said Mahmoud Al Karaki, Associate Director for Programmes Implementation at Save the Children Jordan. Al Karaki praised the strategic partnership with the German Ministry of Development and Economic Cooperation, which was set to mitigate the impact of the Syrian crisis on Host Communities in Jordan, and which has achieved outstanding results in serving the community.

 

The opening was attended by Mr. Ahmed Al Zaban, Director of Rusaifa Development, and President of “Ray of Hope” Organization Mr. Omar Al Jarrah and a number of influencers, parents and children. It is worth noting that Save the Children Jordan provided services to approximately 590,000 children and their families in Jordan in 2017 in the areas of education, protection, food security and livelihoods, Health and Nutrition. The organization has been working in Jordan since 1974 to help vulnerable children and their families.
