About Our Country Office
Situated in the heart of the Middle East, sharing borders with the occupied Palestinian territories, Syria and Iraq, Jordan has received thousands of refugee families in recent years. Save the Children has been in Jordan since 1985 and is currently providing education and protection services to vulnerable Jordanian children as well as Iraqi and Syrian refugee children. We partner with the Government of Jordan and nongovernment organizations to ensure children have access to sustainable and quality education and protection programs.
Save the Children has a long record of developing, implementing and scaling up programs in Jordan to improve the living conditions and opportunities for children, youth, women and families. Several programs in the country have become sustainable development agencies themselves. Our programs provide young children with access to safe and quality early childhood development services so that they are ready to enter and succeed in school; ensure child-friendly and protective learning environments for all children; and help prevent and remove children from exploitative labor. We also provide youth, representing nearly 70 % of the population, with life, leadership and employment skills to become active and productive members of their families and communities.
